Mass lobby of MPs on Trident

Mass lobby of MPs on Trident

MPs may vote as early as the 18th of July on whether or not to replace Trident, the UK’s nuclear weapons system, at a cost of at least £205 billion. There is growing opposition inside and outside Parliament, highlighted by the biggest anti-nuclear demonstration for a generation in February. In addition to the Scottish National Party and Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, MPs in almost every party are planning to vote against Trident replacement.

It’s vital that as many MPs as possible hear the arguments against Trident replacement from their constituents. CND, along with twenty national organisations, has called a mass lobby of MPs to take place in Parliament on Wednesday 13 July. Come and tell your MP why you want them to Stop Trident.

Hundreds lobbied their MPs last November. Let’s make this lobby even bigger; it could be the last chance to talk to your MP about Trident ahead of the vote. Please make every effort to come and take part. If you’ve never taken part in a lobby event before there will be experts on hand to help you.  If you are planning to travel from Yorkshire and would like help with the train/bus fare, please contact the Yorkshire CND office.

You can contact your MP and ask them for a meeting using the CND website. You don’t need an appointment to take part, but it’s advisable to make an appointment in case your MP is busy.
