‘Knit-In’ in Bradford Centenary Sq, 11/4/14

Join our ‘Knit-in’ in Bradford’s Centenary Square

On Friday 11th of April (12-2pm) radical knitters and crocheters from across the region will descend on Bradford’s Centenary Square to stage a ‘knit-in’ against increased spending on illegal nuclear weapons.

The Bradford demonstration will be one of hundreds taking place across the globe over the coming week as part of the Global Day of Action Against Military Spending – to demand money spent on weapons be redirected to vital support for public services and renewable energy. The ‘Knit-In’ will contribute to a a planned 7 mile pink scarf that will stretch from AWE Aldermaston to Burghfield (the two UK Atomic Weapons Establishment sites) in Berkshire as part of the Wool Against Weapons demonstration on August 9th 2014.

“We’ll be bringing colour, creativity and a message of peace to the centre of Bradford this Friday. Knitting this scarf is a great way of bringing people together to discuss the important issues of the day and I believe none is more important than the Government’s plan to waste over £100 billion of tax payers money on illegal weapons of mass destruction. So come down and show your support, bring your needles and pink yarn, our scarf is already 98 metres and counting!”
