Hiroshima and Nagasaki Commemoration Events 2023

6th and 9th August will mark the 78th year since the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The following commemoration events will be happening in Yorkshire:

  • Bradford – Sunday, 6th August @1pm (Norfolk Gardens, BD1 1SD)
  • Sheffield – Sunday, 6th August @2pm (Outside Sheffield Town Hall, S1 2HH)
  •  Hull – Sunday, 6th August@12pm (Queen’s Garden of Peace, HU1 3AA)
  • Skipton – Sunday, 6th August @12:30 (Grassington Square, BD23 5AQ)
  • Leeds – Wednesday, 9th August @ 10:30am (Park Square, LS1 2ND)
  • Keighley – Wednesday, 9th August @ midday (Town Hall Sq, BD21 3RY)
  • Hebden Bridge – Sunday, 24th September (more info TBC)

Yorkshire CND are also holding a workshop in collaboration with Christian CND on 27th July at 1pm. This workshop will provide context about the G7 youth summit, alongside reflections from participants from a grassroot and faith perspective. Among the speakers will be YCND’s worker Sam Legg, who travelled to Hiroshima for the Summit.
