Defend the right to protest!

As we saw at the vigil for Sarah Everard, the right to protest needs to be fiercely protected. And if the government has anything to do with it, it will become even harder for us to assemble to demonstrate.

The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill due to be voted on in Parliament this week would give the Home Secretary, Priti Patel, powers to create laws to define ‘serious disruption’ to communities and organisations, on which police can then rely to impose conditions on protests.

CND is supporting the Netpol petition in response – we must stand firm against any creeping restrictions on our right to protest.
