What have we been up to?

We organised an Emergency Protest on the Trident Vote in July and held a Hiroshima Day commemoration – Saturday 6th August, in Hebden Bridge.

On 14th November there will be a talk by Andrea Needham at the Bookcase in Hebden Bridge at 7pm. Twenty years ago, on 29 January 1996, a small group of women broke into a British Aerospace factory in Lancashire and disarmed a Hawk warplane bound for use in Indonesia’s then-ongoing genocide in East Timor. Charged with committing over £2m of damage, they spent six months in prison awaiting trial before being acquitted of all charges by a jury – a landmark verdict that generated national media coverage and inspired countless activists across the globe.

Our November Calder Valley CND meeting will be in Halifax Orangebox on 7th November at 7.30pm, where we will be showing a film.  We are also organising an event with Andrea Needham on 14th November (see opposite for details)
