Stop the Arms Fair – DSEI 2015

On Saturday 12th Sept, take part in a big day of action to challenge DSEI, one of the world’s biggest arms fairs. For one week every two years, in East London, arms companies display their weapons to buyers from around the world, including  countries in conflict, authoritarian regimes and countries with serious human rights problems.

Due to demand from our members we’ve organised transport down to support the Stop the Arms Fair Coalition for the big day of action on Saturday 12th of September.

A bus going down will cost cost £15 return (£10 unwaged). times are as follows:

Bradford at 7.15am: In front of Yorkshire CND office (2 Ashgrove, BD7 1BN)

Leeds at 7.45am:  Pickup at short stay car park at Leeds City Station, off princess square in front of the Weatherspoons pub (LS1 4DT)

Sheffield Meadowhall at 8.35am: Pickup at the carpark exit of the Meadowhall Interchange, by Sainsbury’s petrol station.

Call 05603 640753 or email us to book your place. To give you a feel, this is what happened at the last fair in 2013.

The UK government helps to organise this arms fair, invites these military buyers from around the world, and helps arms companies to make deals, at taxpayer expense.

This has to stop, and together we can stop it.

What to expect:

  • People’s stories who have been impacted by conflict and the arms trade
  • Music, poems and performances: Songs Not Bombs
  • An art space: get crafty and creative
  • Tasty food
  • More to be announced…

This fun and accessible action will be the culmination of a week of action in the run up to the arms fair to make it as difficult as possible for it to go ahead. Exhibition equipment and military hardware will be rolling (or sailing) into ExCeL – let’s stop it getting to its destination!
