The Durham Peace Mural – No. 4 – Postcard

“Fifty County Durham people took a year to complete the mural which is based on an original design by Barrie Ormsby who directed the project. The mural (60ft x 10ft) is painted in acrylics on 12 separate boards and assembled in the market place. Acosss the length of the mural the River Wear moves from source to sea, though its natural and social landscape. The Peace Mural celebrates life in County Durham, past, present and future, and depicts the collective action necessary to combat social and ecological threats, wherever they may arise.”
