Take Back Control – Bradford

Yorkshire CND is pleased to be taking part in the Bradford Take Back control event on Saturday May 6th at Kala Sangam, Bradford. Of particular interest to YCND members will be the ‘Talking Trident’ workshop, by Dr. Chris Butler (CND) & Dr. Timmon Wallis (author of ‘The Truth About Trident‘) and the ‘Re imagining Security‘ session with Celia McKeon.

The day will bring together leave and remain voters, make sense of Brexit and discuss the change we want to see in our communities, We have a range of exciting speakers including writer & journalist Paul Mason, Naz Shah MP, author Hilary Wainwright, writer and film director Paul Sng, journalist Dawn Foster and vlogger Jonathan James. Local groups involved in the event include Wur Bradford, Bradford Industrial Workers of the World, Bradford People’s Assembly, Speakers Corner, Just West Yorkshire, Bradford Community Broadcasting Racial Justice Network, Leeds Plan C, Yorkshire CND and Re-imagining Security.
Workshops and discussion around a range of issues including:
- What does Brexit mean for you
- Living with uncertainty – EU citizens in the UK
- The future for young people
- Post Brexit racism and hate crime
- How do we Take Back control
- Workers rights & trade unions
- Talking Socialism – having difficult conversations
- What are the issues facing women in this difficult era?
- Activism
- Issues around poverty and welfare benefits
- Housing
- Peace and security
- The Prevent agenda
Throughout the day we will have creative sessions led by Wur Bradford through their Power Up Project, a range of short films will be shown, there will a session on political poetry and how to use the media plus several music sessions.
The line up includes:

- Roger Davies (Award Winning Bradford Folk Legend)
- DJ Tony Safari (Listen Up / Trainer Trouble)
- DJ Matt Bradshaw (Jumbo Records / Underground Set)

Tickets £2 and Solidarity £5 – tickets will shortly be available from the link above or on the door (minimum of £2 but pay as you can afford)
To help raise money for the event we are delighted to announce that over 20 bands and musicians have donated a track to our Bradford Boogie album. Money raised will be split between Take Back Control Bradford and the Youth Music Charity. You can buy a copy of the album here.
