International Conscientious Objectors Day 2017
Saturday May 13th: 2.30 – 3.30 p.m.
Sheffield Peace Gardens and Cenotaph in Barker’s Pool
Organised by Sheffield Creative Action for Peace
The ceremony will start at 2.30 p.m. in the Peace Gardens where the Choir for Peace will perform songs to celebrate the actions of those conscientious objectors throughout the world who have taken a stand for peace. We will also hear testimony from conscientious objectors from the past and present.
We will walk to the Cenotaph in Barkers Pool where we will hear more testimony and we will lay a wreath of white poppies for conscientious objectors everywhere and their stand for peace.
We will also hear about the campaign for a Peace Tax, www.conscienceonline.org.uk whereby any individual could take their own stand for peace by requesting that their taxes are used for peaceful purposes rather than preparation for war.
